The memorial service for HARLEM WEEK Chairman and Co-Founder Lloyd A. Williams, was a celebration of his life and his service to the community.

Speakers and performers included Rev. Al Sharpton, New York Attorney General Letitia James, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Hip-Hop legend Doug E. Fresh, vocalist Mavis SWAN Poole, and Vy Higginsen’s Sing Harlem Choir, among others.

Williams was the architect and co-founder of HARLEM WEEK, which started as a one-day event in 1974 to create positivity in the community and promote the neighborhood’s rich history and culture during a time of economic and social challenges. Under Williams’ guidance as chairman, HARLEM WEEK has expanded into one of the largest summer events in the Northeast, affirming Harlem’s legacy and propelling its future growth.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to HARLEM WEEK.
