APOLLO  Theater Salutes HARLEM WEEK

During Amateur Night, each week will feature a special Harlem act.   Harlem residents can experience these Amateur Nights at the Apollo

on Wednesdays in August  for half-price. You must present a valid photo ID and proof of residence when purchasing tickets at the Apollo Box Office.   A limit of two half-price tickets per show.

NYC “Children’s Festival” (Day I)

Over 10,000 children between ages 5 to 12 years of age and family members attend to enjoy storytelling, children’s entertainment (daily performances showcasing tap dancers, dance troupes, step shows, hip hop dancers, theater, poetry and vocalists), arts & crafts, double dutch competitions, face painting, technology, health services, super heroes, dance lessons and sporting events.

Historic Black College Fair & Expo

The Annual HARLEM WEEK National Historic Black College Fair & Expo will take place during “Summer in the City” and offers information on financial aid and college tours for over 50 HBCUs.  More than 15,000 students, parents, alumni and recruiters attend from around the Greater New York metropolitan area to gather information on college admission, scholarships and grants.

Upper Manhattan Auto Show

The Upper Manhattan Auto Show is an exhibition of some of the most unique, collectible, vintage and new vehicles throughout the region.  Awards will be presented in select categories.  Look out for the Auto Parade Through Historic Harlem!  The “Sunday Caravan of Stars” will begin at the “Duke” Ellington monument at 9:00 am.

“The Village within Our Village” features exhibits from hospitals, health centers, health service providers, doctors, holistic practitioners, acupuncturists, dentists and others.  Free health testing is provided on site as well as information on health plans, health insurance, nutrition, holistic medicine, exercise, Healthy Eating & Healthy Living.

Percy Sutton Harlem 5k Run & NYC Health Walk Saluting the 50th Anniversary of The 1964 Civil Rights Act

Thousands of participants from all over NYC, the tri-state region, nationally and internationally participate in the Annual Percy Sutton Harlem 5K Run & NYC Health Walk Saluting the 50th Anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Honoring the NAACP in bringing about this legislation and slain civil rights heroes James Chaney, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner.
